The Hatikvah International Academy Charter School seeks a Modern Hebrew Teacher or, if there is a need for training and certification, Modern Hebrew Assistant Teacher, to work for the 2023-2024 school year that begins at the end of August 2023. Hatikvah is a public school and as such, the school teaches Modern Hebrew without religious studies and is interested in Hebrew teachers who wish to learn or already know how to use the Proficiency Approach to language acquisition. The school builds units of instruction based on authentic language use in lieu of any boxed curriculum sets. Interested potential candidates for this position should be knowledgeable on how to create units and lesson plans, assessment for learning, and how to infuse Israeli culture into instruction in age appropriate and authentic ways.

Hatikvah has a diverse student body and faculty and and has a mission to infuse service-learning and academic excellence with instruction differentiated for all types of learners within one classroom. Teachers work in collaborative teams and enjoy a friendly working environment.

Hours for the position are 7:50 AM to 4:00 PM on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and either Monday or Tuesday (dependent upon the grade level assigned). One day per week, teachers stay for a professional development meeting until 4:00 PM. On Fridays, the faculty leaves between 3:20 PM and 3:30 PM. There is some flexibility on non-professional development days to also leave at 3:30 PM.

Teachers have 10 sick days and 3 personal days per school year with carryover of days unused to the following year.
